Odd stuff.

It is what makes life, well… odd. That is a good thing. The Martians’ Heaven definitely falls into this category.

Heaven is an acoustic mix of pop music, history, life advice, religion, Gladiator, Doctor Who, and Star Trek.

Its geeky yes, but its catchy as hell.

The video is bad eye candy (although in its own way weirdly amusing), but the tune is Scottish gold.

Thanks to both Psycho-Momia and Boutell for the link hookup: It is amazing what you find when you go down some previously un-traveled paths.

Also check out these other The Martians tunes:

Days Like These: An very 70’s observation about events of some day when something might have happened maybe.
geoff Killed a Pigeon: A theatrical of exploration of death by bicycle.
Cheesy: Christmas gone oh so wrong.

Thanks for stopping by and remember: There’s too much blood in your alcohol system.

I’ll bet Amy likes these guys. I do. They are carrying on the honored tradition of “Beyond the Fringe” and “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”. Great songs. Especially “geoff Killed A Pigeon”. And “Heaven”. Really nice harmony on “Days Like These”. I liked this post.

Many thanks for the kind comments…..sadly it won’t save you from the Mines, but it may get you a cup of tea before being cast into them….

Incidentally, we’ve just released a new one, “Our Home”, all about Scotland, being Scottish and taking on the greatest empire this planet has ever seen…..so far….

It’s free, just see our website.

Where do your gods live, and how do we kill them?

Mom: She’s seems to like them ok. To me they more reminded me of They Might Be Giants.

Yes, I agree with you, the harmony on Days Like These is really good.

Glad that you enjoyed the post!

The Martians: Oh damn, you’re invading my blog! Please, oh please mighty Martians show me mercy, as I cower before your greatness!

Believe me, I will be very thankful for a cuppa before I’m tossed into the mines…. but, if I may… if it pleases The Martians to hear me out, may I suggest that I would better serve your awesomenesses as a trumpet (slightly battered, but originally brass - though greening around the edges), to blast out upon the masses, the glory of such fine fine martians as yourselves?

I would hope that after the appropriate scans and cavity surgeries, you might find me worthy of such a cause..

If not, I can give you the address of my god, his comings and goings, the times he sleeps, and the name of his pet cat. Will that buy me at least a second cuppa before the mines?

Your Humble Trumpet in Waiting

Trumpet?

Trumpet, with guitar?

Trumpet, with guitar, vocals, and a surprisingly catchy rhythm?

That’ll never work.

You know what we call that? Insanity…a tenuous grip on reality….madness…..yes, that’s it, madness.

Madness.

We call it Madness.
