Working a 9 hour day on the Saturday of a long weekend puts a significant crimp in said long weekend. How’s your’s going?

Discovered a quote from Epicurus on a documentary I watched today that I found interesting:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”

Okay, those ads are hilarious. God and Austin Powers. hmmm
If all things come from God, then so does evil. Of course, evil is subjective. One man’s evil is another man’s 70 virgins in paradise. Historically, more evil has been done in the name of God than for any other reason. More violence man against man. The Crusades, Inquisition, IRA, Taliban, etc. Seems God is an invention of man as an excuse to impose his ideas on others. If He’s real, he isn’t doing a very good job. People have always hunted for something to blame for their trials and tribulations, and something to lean on when they are weak. I think we are like a bunch of bacteria slowly poisoning the earth, so we will be wiping ourselves out before long, probably. Then the question of God or no God will be a moot point.

I do like that poem, by the way.

I just realized that the header photo changes! Cool beans.

Is it any surprise that I’m partial to the drinking dog?

Mom: Personally I do not believe in the concepts of good or evil. To me they are only language constructs to label things - and I think they’ve been abused and probably did not do their job accurately in the first place.

One of the shames of humanity I think is, as you said, the amount of “evil” done in the name of God.

Chickie over on her post On Religion made what I thought was an interesting observation that “maybe God is a grown-up’s Santa Claus”.

Chickie: Hehehe, nope, no surprise at all that you like the drinking dog images. ;)
